Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 03, 2026
BefuddleBug ("we," "our," or "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit our website, contact us, create an account on our site, or play our games.
1. How Our Policies Fit Together
Each of our games handles information differently, so many of them have their own privacy policy. All of our policies are listed on our Privacy Policies page.
- If a game has its own privacy policy, that policy applies to the game, and it takes priority over this one wherever the two differ.
- If a game does not have its own policy, this policy applies to it.
- This policy always applies to our website, our contact form, and website accounts.
2. Information We Collect on Our Website
- Contact form: your name, email address, and the message you send, used only to respond to you.
- Website accounts: if you register, your username, email address, and password (stored in a protected, hashed form), used only to run your account.
- Basic analytics: general information such as browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the site, used only to understand and improve the website.
- Browser games on our site: progress and settings may be saved in your own browser's local storage. That data stays on your device unless a game's own policy says otherwise.
3. Our Games on Other Stores and Platforms
Our games are available through stores and platforms such as itch.io, Steam, Google Play, the Apple App Store, and the Meta Horizon Store. When you buy, download, or play a game there, that store handles your account, payment, and purchase information under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details.
Some games use features provided by those platforms (for example, leaderboards, achievements, or ownership checks), and some may use third-party services such as advertising or analytics. When a game does, its own privacy policy names each service, what information it involves, and why.
4. Online Games We Host
If you play an online game that runs on servers we operate, we store only what is needed to run the game, such as your chosen player name and game progress. The game's own policy gives the details.
5. How We Use Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve our website, games, and services.
- To respond to inquiries, support requests, and feedback.
- To send important updates related to your account or a service you use, if you have one.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share information only with service providers that help us run our website and services (such as web hosting and email), only as needed for that purpose, or with authorities when required by law. When we receive such a request, we disclose only the minimum information required.
7. Data Retention
Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond to you. Account information is kept until you delete your account or ask us to delete it. Analytics information is kept in general form and is not used to identify you.
8. Your Rights and Data Deletion
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. These rights are available to all users, in every country, without exception, at no cost. To make a request, email us at the address below and it will be honored. We aim to respond within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
Our website forms and website accounts are not directed toward children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through them. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. Some of our games are designed for a general audience that includes children; those games have their own privacy policies describing exactly how they protect younger players. A parent or guardian may contact us at any time with questions or requests about a child's information.
10. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no system is completely secure.
11. Where We Are Located
BefuddleBug is based in the United States, and information we handle is processed there.
12. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
